for electric guitar and live electronics (2018)
Ravenna Festival Commission 2016 – Le cento Chitarre Elettriche
First Performance: Ravenna Festival, Artificerie Almagià
Luca Nostro, electric guitar | Alessandro Ratoci, live electronics
This 20-minute piece reimagines the raw energy of Sonic Youth’s early albums through sonic deconstruction and recombination. Blending structured composition with semi-improvised electronic layers, it transforms fragments of noise-rock history into something entirely new. Fixed media assembles fragments of their recordings into evolving sequences, while live electronics manipulate the guitar in real-time, creating a dynamic interplay between performer and machine. This project explores how the unmistakable sonic identity of a seminal rock band can be reconfigured into fresh expressive forms, pushing the boundaries of both rock and experimental music.
